Report: Bulgarian PM says Lukoil violates no Bulgarian laws
MOSCOW, Dec 5 (PRIME) -- Russian oil major Lukoil has not violated any Bulgarian laws, E.U. regulations, or customs rulings, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported on Tuesday quoting the country’s Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov.
“The prime minister has said that all inspections have shown that Lukoil has not violated any regulation of the E.U., any Bulgarian law, or any customs ruling,” the news agency reported.
The government will publish information that proves any violation done by the company if the authorities discover it, Denkov promised as cited by the BTA.
The E.U. imposed a partial embargo on Russian oil with the exemption for sea shipments to Bulgaria until the end of 2024. Lukoil’s Bulgarian oil refinery Lukoil Neftohim Burgas depends on supplies of Russian oil.
On November 17, the Bulgarian parliament approved prohibition of imports and refining of Russian oil by Lukoil at its refinery in the city of Burgas from March 1. The export quotas will be abolished in January. In response, the oil refinery said in a statement that it might have to suspend its operations because of the suspension of quotas.
